"Nabakalebara"is purely odia word which means renovation.The Nabakalebara of Lord Jagannath occurs when two full moon appear in ashadha month of a year.Normally after 8,12 or 19 years of a Nabakalebara.The story behind it is that Lord Jagannath lost his one body and take a new birth.After the death of Lord Krishna,Pandava(Arjuna) do his last rites but the Pandavas found that Lord Krishna's heart wasn't destroyes so they drowned the heart in ocean and this heart is now placed in Puri Jagannath's wodden body.So in this nabakalebara bhagban's heart i.e Brahma replace from one sculpture to another and Lord Jagannath with his brother and sister was taken rebirth.
Cart festival in Odia we commonly called it "Ratha yatra",for an Odia this festival is his or her sign of self-estem.we, people of odisha,love Lord Jagannath very much.The cart festival is the festival of lord Jagannath,his elder brother lord Balabhadra and his lovely and dear sister Lord Subhadra(commonly we odia people say kalia,balia and Subhadra).The three siblings visit their aunt house and stay there for seven days and again come back to their home in bahuda yatra festival.This festival commonly celebrate in ashadha Shukla pakhya dutiya tithi(second moon of asadha month).The faith and believe of every odia is Mahaprabhu sri Jagannath.we believe that he also loves us a lot for which in this holy occasion he and his siblings comes from his temple to meet with his devotee.The Rathayatra is a public festival of Odisha.
